As a result of several Earth Observing satellites moving into their next development phases, calls for the renewal of Mission Advisory Groups' (MAG) memberships have been opened for:

  • FORUM (Earth Explorer 9),  Phase D/E1
  • Copernicus CO2M, Phase D/E1
  • Copernicus Sentinel-3 Next Generation Topography, Phase B2/C

ESA will select new members for these three missions through an open call which is open until 09 January 2026. All details on how to apply is provided on ESA’s Earth Observation Advisory Group Application.

The main benefit for a scientist to be part of an ESA mission advisory group is to be part of a highly skilled team of experts that can shape and influence the mission goals and priorities.

As a member of the MAG you will give advise on key scientific questions and measurement strategies, help to optimise instruments, observation plans and data quality to maximise the scientific return. You gain early insight into the mission and work closely with leading international scienctists.
